Stay motivated

Three more days. There are just three more days until Spring Break starts.

We have been in school for about seven months now. Guess what that means. We only have a three months of school to get through.

I have noticed that as Spring Break approaches many of my fellow students are less motivated when it comes to school, myself included. When people get less motivated, their work ethic can suffer from it. Procrastination can quickly become a habit once motivation has been stolen from students. This is something we have to be cautious of.

When procrastination sets in a your grades can easily start going down as you start to spend less time studying and doing homework in exchange for Netflix marathons. We all have those moments when we just want to lounge about and do absolutely nothing; I certainly have those spurts of wanting to do nothing but sleep. Just do not let those moments overstay their welcome in your mind as they can be taxing on you mentally and, sometimes, physically.

A way to stay motivated during this small time before school ends is to stay positive. Smile, even if you do not mean it. Just the action of smiling can release hormones that make a person happier. Researchers at Harvard found a link that says positivity can lead to more productivity so create happiness for yourself.

Another way to get yourself motivated is to be proud of what you have done, even if all you did was get out of bed. Staying on the idea that positivity helps people stay motivated, don’t forget to speak positively as well. Saying things like, “I’ll never get this done” or “This is impossible” will not allow you to get anything done. Thinking and speaking positive words can uplift your negative mood.

If all else fails, just think about summer. School ends in a little more than two months. Have you seen how quickly this school year has gone by? It is almost over. Keep that motivation and positivity up. We are almost done.
