Siblings, siblings, siblings

As we all know, having siblings is not always rainbows and butterflies. Most of the time you’re either having an argument with them over the craziest things; you’re just not talking to one another or ignoring each other. But you also know that if someone tries to hurt them, that person needs to hide and hope for the love of God that you don’t find them.

There are different types of siblings and we all have different relationships with them. It is different being the older sibling, younger sibling or even a twin. If you have an elder sibling, you know that he or she will always be used as a comparison tool throughout your life, either in a good way or bad way.

Younger siblings get blamed for everything. In family matters, your opinion doesn’t really matter. If you have a olders sister and she loves makeup, you will be used as a guinea pig (just ask my sister).

If you have an older brother, you have to like the sport that your brother likes; they will probably be all up in your business even though you don’t want them to. Last, but not least, you will usually get a lot of advice about your love life, no matter how messed up theirs is. The good thing though is that elder siblings will remain your friends for an eternity; they will always be there for you and protect you no matter what, or they’ll try. They are always the biggest critics, but they are always there when you need a shoulder to cry on.

If you are an older sibling, on the other hand, you probably have to try to be perfect so your younger sibling doesn’t follow you steps to darkness. You are always the smarter one though, not if you are just one year older than your sibling and he or she is a genius, I’m sorry if that’s the case. Also you’re parents were way more strict with you than they are to your younger sibling, Why? Parents just get lazier as they have more kids. Your are expected to pass down your wisdom and knowledge of everything to your younger sibling. You’re likely pretty nurturing, even if you don’t realize it. The eldest usually ends up caring for their younger siblings in some way, whether it’s babysitting, or just guiding them through life. When you got into fights, you got in trouble, because you’re older and you’re supposed to “know better” I could go on and on, because I am an older sister myself, but I think I’ve made my point. Relationships with siblings are not perfect, but at the end they are worth having. Last Sunday was National Sibling Day, so if you didn’t get to tell them how much you love them, you probably should do it soon.
