Women should feel confident of things they work hard for

Recently I read Mindy Kaling’s book “Why not me” Mindy is so inspiring to me because she wanted to be a comedy writer since she was a little girl and she worked so hard and now she writes and stars in her own show. In the book, she talks about how she tried to not feel entitled to things, but then realized why shouldn’t we? If we work hard then why shouldn’t we feel like we deserve something? Thinking you are better than everyone and gliding through life thinking everything will be handed to you is a way different kind of entitlement than working hard and thinking you deserve something.

An ideal mindset to have is that I worked hard, and I have earned this, so why not me? I don’t think feeling entitled to something is bad or cocky. I think that feeling entitled to some things shows a confident, driven person who is not scared of failing.

“The scary thing is that some people really feel uncomfortable around women who don’t hate themselves. So that is why you need to be a little bit brav,” Mindy Kaling said.

I love this quote because so many women don’t act confident because they don’t want to come off as stuck-up or full of themselves. Why is it that when a woman is confident, she is “full of herself” and “stuck-up?” Why do we have to bring women down to the point where if they worked really hard for something, they still won’t be confident? Why do they deserve anything over you? What makes them so special? If you feel like you worked hard for something, then you need the tiniest bit of bravery to stand up and show that you are confident and feel entitled to something you worked hard for.
