Manhattan High Track traveled to Salina last Friday to close off their regular season and although the team came home with several placers, neither division brought home first overall.

Among the highest placers in the girls’ division were junior Cara Melgares, who took first in the 1,600 meter run and second in javelin; senior Anna Keeley, who won the 3,200 meter run; the 4×800 meter relay team finished first and sophomore Therriana Pittman, who brought home a bronze in discus.

The boys’ division had several placers as well: sophomore Logan Logback won the 1,600 meter run; senior Josue Alvaredo took second in the 800 meter run; junior Brandon Cook finished in third place in discus; junior Tom Haug took first in high jump; senior Christian Carmichael brought home third place for high jump and senior Ian Trapp and junior Josh Haus took second and third in javelin.

Though the team is focusing on post-season meets from here on out, they took time to look back on the regular season and reminisce.

“[My favorite memories include] getting to run on relays and because we’re all tired and hurting,” junior Amber Gloria said, “we push each other and encourage each other to do the best we can and it’s a great feeling having all your teammates by your side.”

MHS will be hosting Centennial League at 3:30 p.m. this Thursday at Bishop Stadium.
