As the end of the school year arrives, students and staff of Manhattan High School are starting to make plans for the summer. The Planet Comic-con is coming to kansas city and some students are planning to attend.

“Planet Comic con is basically is this huge convention in Kansas City.” junior Elizabeth Underwood said.
“There is going to be some famous people in the comic type of industry that come in, “ junior Elizabeth Underwood said. “You can dress up as different characters and meet the famous people like, Stan Lee is going to be here I am so excited.”

Famous comic book writers and directors like Lee and Kevin Smith will attend to give insight and talk about  how to write comic books and their careers.

“I am a huge fan of comics and I am captain america trash for life,” junior Erin Heller said. “People go to comic-con just to see people dress up as they favorite characters or buy new comics just look around and see all of the cool costumes.”

The event seems like an incredible experience for the students attending and big opportunity to get original merchandise.

“”I’m excited to be able to go and get more nerd things,” Underwood said. “Since Boom Comics closed here, I have no means of getting comic books. You know going there is there is unique merchandise ”

The event will be held the May 20- 22 at Kansas City’s, Bartle Hall.

“The art is fantastic, and you kind of can just go and do whatever you want,” Underwood said, “  It’s a different form of art and it’s purely American. America made comic books so it’s really interesting to be a part of something that originated in America and not anywhere else.”
