The golf team brought home second place with a team score of 317 from yesterday’s regional meet at MacDonald Golf Course in Wichita.

For the first time this season sophomore Ben Robben was the team’s top scorer, placing second with a personal record of 76. Senior Cole Gritton placed sixth with a score of 78 and senior Trevor Dillon placed eighth with a score of 80.

Despite the messy weather and the gloomy day the team was still willing to put effort into winning and still working together as a team.

“At the start I mean that definitely didn’t help it was kind of distracting,” Gritton said.

Robben didn’t only place second but also broke personal season challenges.

“It felt good,” Robben. “I’ve been kind of hovering around in the 80s for a while and I couldn’t push through but today I put everything together and played a nice round.”

Gritton won the the three previous tournaments individually but yesterday his short game was off and that set him back to sixth place.

“Personally I didn’t play very well,” Gritton said. “I hit the ball really well but my putting was terrible.”

The team will continue on to 6A state next Monday at Manhattan Country Club.
