After rainy weekends and a day of scattered showers, the tennis team took the court on Sept 13 against Marysville, Washburn Rural and Junction City. Although they placed third, the team had games of success at the quad.

With an undefeated record for the day, senior Lauren Robben and sophomore Jill Broxterman went 3-0. The doubles pair was excited for the win.

“We were so happy because we really didn’t feel confident going into the quad,” Robben said. “We knew that Marysville and Washburn were going to be a challenge but we held our own.”

The senior credits communication as the source of their wins.

“I think communication was different for us this week and it was really good, because we usually aren’t very good at that,” Robben said.

Along with their victories, the team had the joy of celebrating on their home court. They shared the advantages of holding the quad in Manhattan.

“I think that being at home gave us an advantage because we play on those courts every day and we know where to hit the ball for them to mess up,” Robben said.
