South Korean president impeached

 

The future of South Korea has been thrusted into a state of uncertainty with the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye on Friday. Her powers are currently suspended and the Constitutional Court will vote on further action. If they decide to remove her completely, a new election will take place in two months.

Canadian Prime Minister takes environmental precaution

 

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has set a deal in place as of Friday to impose carbon pricing throughout Canada. This plan sets in place minimum prices on carbon that must be used in all provinces and will be federally enforced. Trudeau endeavors to establish Canada as the leader of the international effort to reduce carbon emissions.

Egyptian Cathedral blast kills 25

 

An explosion in a church connected to the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mark’s in Cairo killed 25 people and injured several more on Sunday. Authorities suspect that the attack was set in place by the militant group that had previously and repeatedly targeted Egypt. However, no responsibility for the blast was taken.

U.S. life expectancy lowers

 

According to a study released by the National Center for Health Statistics on Thursday, the average life expectancy in the U.S. has reduced to 78.8 as of 2015, a tenth less than the results a year before. This marks the first time that national life expectancy has gone down in 23 years.
