Athlete of the Week: Ko Saito

Athletes live to compete and win. However, even when they win, athletes still see the need to improve. Junior foreign exchange student Ko Saito is no different. Saito won the 110- and 300- meter hurdles at the Jerry Beardslee Invitational at Washburn Rural on Friday.

“It was really great to find out that I won,” Saito said. “I had a lot of fun competing, but I still wasn’t too happy about my time, but I was glad that I was able to bring home a first-place finish.”

Saito knows he has work to do in order to be at the level he wants.

“I tried working on my form a lot during practice,” Saito said, “and that helped my time improve a little bit, but I still have a lot of work to do in order to do to improve.”
