Thomas Rhett show high energy, fun to watch

When given the opportunity, don’t ever turn down a Thomas Rhett concert.

His Wichita stop was at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, at the Intrust Bank Arena. Opening acts included Walker Hayes and Old Dominion.

The opening acts were very engaging, especially Old Dominion.  Their performance was very exciting with all the special effects ,from the colorful screens to the flashy lights. Hayes was a very different and unique act. His style is more pop or hip-hop country, which is something new that may not be for everyone.

Old Dominion was definitely the more popular and well known opener, which led the crowd to get pumped up. Both acts performed at different times in the show to accompany Rhett and then all together at the end for the final song.

When Rhett came out on stage he said “We’ll give you 150 percent of what we’ve got and you give us 100, sound like a deal?” He definitely wasn’t lying when he said that.

Everything he did was high energy and was so much fun to watch. For some of his super upbeat songs, the screens would have cool slideshows and video montages and crazy lights, and for some of his more slow, sweet songs, including his hit song “Die a Happy Man,” the lights would dim and the crowd would turn on their phone flashlights and it was very cool to be able to create that type of stillness.

One of the most important qualities to have as a performer is stage presence. There was certainly no lack of that from Rhett. He was always making sure the crowd was involved and moved all around the arena, so the whole performance just felt welcoming. What happens a lot is performers mess around on stage and sometimes don’t even sing, as if they didn’t care, but you could tell Rhett truly was giving his best effort to make sure he gave everyone the performance they came to see.

These people are truly talented and full of energy that is so much fun to watch and engage with. Definitely an amazing event to wrap up the week!
