The Riley County Police Department is still investigating the incident involving members of the Manhattan High football team on Oct. 25. As such, there is no new information regarding the incident.

According to Hali Rowland, RCPD Public Information Officer, there will not be any new information soon.

Rowland declined to say if the whole football team is being interviewed.

“We are interviewing anyone who has information pertaining to the case,” Rowland said.

USD 383 also released a statement, telling why RCPD was involved.

The initial investigation by the school did not provide a clear picture of the events,” the press release said, “thus more expertise was necessary and appropriate. This investigation involves multiple people and will take time to complete properly.”

USD 383 will not comment on the incident further until the investigation is concluded. Punishments will not be dealt until the conclusion either.

“The safety and security of all our students remains a priority for USD 383 as is providing appropriate discipline based on facts,” the press release said. “We trust that the investigative process of the Riley County Police Department will provide us the facts needed to make proper decisions.”
