On Oct. 20, 2017, Chris Young, a new and upcoming country singer and songwriter, released his new album titled “Losing Sleep.” It includes ten songs about a beautiful girl, being in love, and enjoying every moment with her. With this being Young’s seventh album released, he is still figuring out how to make his name known and his songs unique. While “Losing Sleep,” in my opinion won’t compare to Young’s previous album, “I’m Comin’ Over”, which includes 11 songs and reached 2nd on the country music charts, it is still a great addition to Young’s collection.

Overall, “Losing Sleep” is one of the most balanced albums I’ve heard. The first song, titled “Losing Sleep” has a pop beat to it while still having a country vibe. “Holiday,” the third song of the album, was produced in Florida and has a summer feeling all throughout it. “Blacked Out,” the last song on the album, is stripped down to just the acoustic guitar and Young’s calm vocals. The remaining songs include a mixture of upbeat rhythms and slow, smooth beats. Like multiple of Young’s previous songs, he is very emotional and personal with his lyrics. Young definitely hasn’t lost the great beat and vocal quality he has had in his past albums.

While the first song of the album, “Losing Sleep” has already peaked at number 15 on the country music charts, the remaining songs haven’t been in the top 50 since they have been released. “Losing Sleep” has a very likeable and catchy ring to it and in my opinion, will be the most popular song of the album. Young uses the new trend of ‘Pop Country’ in this song to pull in new listeners. Young’s new album definitely has the potential to peak on the charts. As Young continues to follow the trends of country music, he continues to make his name known worldwide.
