Freshman football finds win, loss in first games

Gavin Gaston, Staff Writer

The freshmen football team had its first game on Aug. 30, and they won against Olathe Northwest. They secured the win in a final score of 28-6.

“We played hard, and our win was very rewarding,” Jackson Hainstock, left guard, said. “It was just really good fun.”

Their second game, which was on Sept. 6, was the opposite of the first one. Manhattan lost to Topeka High, 14-8. This was the second of nine games this season.

“The goal of any team is to perform to expectations; I do not believe we have done that yet this year,” Alex Reinecke, freshman coach, said. “We have to start practicing better if we expect to reach our goals.”

The next game will be Sept. 13 against Highland Park.
