The new Netflix series the “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” which came out on Friday, kicks off with a bang as a new view of the classic tales of Sabrina Spellman, her two aunts Hilda and Zelda, and her classic black cat Salem.

But this is not the version from the Archie comics of the 1960s and ‘70s or the cute and sweet version from 1996. This story takes unexpected twists and turns. It introduces more characters and beings that your heart will warm to and chill you to the bone.

Sabrina is faced with a choice either to lose her friends and join the Dark Lord or her friends and the mortal world. Choosing the Dark Lord means she will lose her right to be in the mortal world with her best friends Rosz and Suzy and her boyfriend Harvey. As her aunts keep pressuring Sabrina to sign her name in the Book of the Beast and walk the path of night, her “cousin” Ambrose comforts her as she tries to find a way to stay in both worlds that she is attached to.

In my opinion, the story is great and the music works amazingly well with the classic character Sabrina’s look and actions. The fashion is great; especially the dark baptism dress that she wears is outstanding.

In the new version, Sabrina seems a lot closer to her aunt Hilda instead of her other aunt Zelda like it was in the past television version. Personally, I didn’t really like the way they made Zelda kind of rude and very negative but the bond between Hilda and Sabrina is very sweet.

Hilda is different from the original series in a lot of ways. She’s more responsible and more like a mother to Sabrina but she’s afraid of her sister, which makes helping Sabrina fight the darkness harder for her.

Overall, I think the new series is definitely worth a try, it’s very interesting and will give you goosebumps while you watch.
