Stained Glass

How did you get into art?

“I have known Mrs. [Sonda] Copeland for many years and I talked to her son and he recommended to take one of her classes. I agreed and I really wanted to take a class from her before I graduated anyways. Then last year, I decided to take the jewelry class and I absolutely fell in love with it.”

What is your favorite thing to do with art?

“Honestly just about everything. There is nothing specific that comes to mind. My favorite medium to work in is stain glass. Art is just a different way to express yourself which I love about it. It is a way to get all ideas out of your head and be able to share them with other people.

What is your inspiration?

“Definitely Mrs. [Sonda] Copeland. She has helped me in so many different ways and has helped me grow in art. There are a lot of things I didn’t know before I took her class. I have taken a few art classes before her but nothing that really caught my eye.”

What are you working on right now?

“I am working on a big stain glass piece for my parents as a graduation gift.”

What keeps you going?

“It is complicated in a way. There are days where I show up to class and just don’t feel like working or get really frustrated and want to give up but at the same time I think about it and I can’t wait to see the end result.”

Larkin also plays guitar out of school.
