Marching band performs final concert

For their last event of the year, the marching band performed for the high school on Friday night. Each band member worked hard before the event and accomplished many of their goals from the beginning of the year.

“We accomplished a lot,” junior Mitchell Bunger said. “It was kind of like the first season in two years, but it was great to see us perform again and get to go to football games.”

The band helps students learn organization, responsibility and commitment. Many of the students have been in band since their freshman year and some of them plan to continue to play band in college.

“[Having a band is] the single most effective way to provide school spirit,” Joel Gittle, band director, said.

Marching band was a large commitment for all of the students involved.

“I love it,” freshman Holden Arthaud-Day said. “It’s a great environment and everybody is so kind.”

Many of the seniors are sad that this will be their last time playing in the marching band.

“I love the atmosphere, the family, everybody is so loving, kind,” senior CJ Hewins said. “The directors are always so helpful and supportive.”

According to Gittle, the most responsible kids he knows are band students.

“These are people you would hire,” Gittle said. “If you want something done right, hire a band kid.”
