Manhattan JV soccer defeats Hayden

Manhattan High boys Junior Varsity soccer increased their record to 5-2 in an action-packed game against Hayden taking place at home on Oct. 4 with a final score of 4-0.

Out of those four goals, three players maneuvered the ball past the goalie. Not even five minutes into the game, junior Javier Rodriguez easily scored a goal, putting valuable points on the board for Manhattan. Goals two and three were similarly scored by sophomore Jonathan Bachmeier, goal the second of which was an assist by Patrick Keenan. Lastly, goal four was scored by freshman Ian Wassom.

“I think the game played out pretty decently, but we could definitely work on key details [before the next game],” freshman Ian Hupp, a defender on MHS, said.

Freshman Skylard Buffington received the sole yellow card distributed in the game. He said he was told by a fellow teammate that he should feel good about the warning, but that’s not how he wanted to approach the game.

“I don’t really like it,” Buffington said.

MHS  is set to play an Emporia J.V. Quad on Oct. 8 as well as Wichita Northwest on Oct. 11.
