Thespians had yet another gathering to raise funds for future productions. On this occasion, in the spirit of Halloween, they held a Karaoke night. People could attend in costume and sing their hearts out in any genre of their choosing. Each song cost the participants one dollar to perform.
“Guests would come in and take a seat at a table in the drama room, we had candy and treats over on a food table and a list for karaoke sign ups,” junior Jaden Wataha, treasurer, said.
The night was full of thespians and others who were not only able to enjoy the spooky season with treats, but with songs as well. There were many funny moments spread out throughout the night including a humorous love triangle.
“My favorite part was at the end, some of our officers led a ‘Frozen’ [‘Love is an] Open Door’ singalong for everyone,” Wataha said.
The attendance of this event was rather small, estimated around 30 people, but led to a smooth and enjoyable night.
“It was a really low pressure environment and people didn’t seem scared to come up and sing in front of everyone which was really nice,” junior Ella Chase said.
Students were able to really get into character at this event and have fun being somebody new. And once in character, they would sing a song that fit their character’s mood. Often these characters were comedic as well.
“It was great,” president Julianna da Silva, senior, said. “Everyone enjoyed themselves and people dressed up.”
Thespians plans to do more events for funding like coffee houses and restaurant fundraisers. All the funds made at these events go towards productions for theater and to Thespians.
“Everyone had a great time and we made some money,” Wataha said.
