At $8.4 billion, more money is expected to be spent on candy and costumes this year in America than ever before according to the National Retail Federation’s survey history

This estimate is also a 22 percent increase from last year

The average consumer will spend $82.93 on Halloween preparation

80 percent of Americans will shop for Halloween supplies, like candy or decorations, by mid-October

71 percent plan to hand out candy

49 percent will decorate their home or yard

47 percent will wear a costume

46 percent plan to carve a pumpkin

21 percent will tour a haunted house

16 percent plan to dress their pet or pets in a costume

17 percent find costume inspiration on social media, especially Pinterest
