Cross Country Medals at State

With a first place regional finish under the boys’ belt and a second place finish under the girls’, both teams came prepared to run at state.

“We’ve already put in the work this season,”  junior Logan Logback said. “Now it’s just time to finish things up.”

The girls also felt the same as the boys, prepared and ready to go.

Both teams put in lots of work to get to this moment. They knew the stakes were high and were prepared to take on the challenge.

Both teams had strong finishes, gaining third place medals. Individually senior Cara Melgares ran the strongest for the girls taking sixth place and junior Cooper Schroeder captured sixth place for the boys.

“Even though we didn’t finish in first place like we had hoped, third place is nothing to be too upset about,” junior Cooper Schroeder said. “We all gave our best and we can look forward to next season and have high expectations for the team.”

The boys team will have most of their runners returning next year so they should not take a huge hit. Meanwhile, the girls are losing senior leader Cara Melgares, so they will have to find someone to step up and fill her shoes.
