Artist of the Week: Grace Hart

When did you first start playing music?

I started taking piano lessons in second grade I think, the first instrument I played and was serious about was viola in fifth grade when everybody got to play an instrument and it’s been my favorite ever since.

How has being in three bands impacted your life?

I’m talking to new people now and it’s a fun time. I still do my best to do school work and stuff, but being a part of all these musical endeavors is kind of stretching me. I don’t know if it’s impacted my social life, I’m more social as in I’m talking to new people, like the people in new bands.

Have there been any big obstacles for you and your music?

Big obstacles in music is just like music I can’t play yet, which I can easily overcome. But obstacles like being first chair in viola and having to be a leader and actually having to take things seriously to be a good, strong musician is kind of stressing me out, but it’s good time stress.

What got you to keep pursuing music?

Music is the only thing that really interest me and that I always enjoy doing no matter what mood I’m in.

What’s been a big inspiration for your music?

Other people, musicians that are older and stronger than me, I see them and use them as an example to step-up, cause I’m not competitive but I still want to be really good.
