October brings MLB playoffs

Every year in October, the Major League Baseball holds the playoffs to determine the winner.

At first, I thought that the Boston Red Sox were one of the best teams in the American League and definite playoff contender to go to the championship. In Game 1 of the Red Sox and Houston Astros series, played in Houston, the Astros’ Jose Altuve hit three home runs. The Astros ended up winning the game 8-2, which I didn’t like watching because I’m a Red Sox fan, but I do like watching Jose Altuve because he’s fun to watch.

It was pretty much the same thing in Game 2 because the Astros won the game 8-2 again. After Game 3 of the matchup, it had me wondering if the Red Sox would possibly make a comeback because the home run from Rafael Devers that brought them to a 4-3 lead and eventually won their first game in the series 10-3.

Game 4 was close until Andrew Benintendi of the red Sox hit a two-run homerun to make it 2-3. After Benintendi hit the home run, it had me convinced that the Red Sox were on a roll and were going to win the series. The Astros ending up scoring three more runs and the Red Sox scored two more, but couldn’t get enough to advance to the next round.

Now that the Red Sox are eliminated, I feel like the Astros are going to go a long way with their star players Correa, Springer and Altuve, who are really enjoyable to watch and will most likely all make fun 2017 playoff appearances.

For the next series in the AL, the New York Yankees took on the Cleveland Indians. I enjoyed watching this game because the Indians are fun to watch. In Game 1 the Indians were really off to a good start and won the game 0-4. In Game 2, in the first inning, the Yankees’ Gary Sanchez paved the way for the Yankees with a solo home run. After the second inning the score was tied at three runs until the Yankees’ Aaron Hicks hit a homerun and took the lead. Eventually the teams both were tied at eight points and had to go into extra innings to determine the winner. In the 13th inning, Indians’ Yan Gomes hit a walkoff double to win the game.

In Game 3 it was all about defensive plays were Aaron Judge, the Yankees’ rookie phenomenon, robbed a home run from Francisco Lindor. I liked the effort from Judge but I don’t like the fact that it was Lindor who hit the ball because I wanted him to do good. Game 3 was really uneventful until the Seventh inning where Yankees’ Greg Bird hit a solo home run and the Yankees won the game 1-0.

In Game 4, the Yankees won 7-3 and are most likely going to knock off the Indians just from the way that they’re playing.

The Yankees are the other team to watch based on the way they’ve been performing against their opponents. The Yankees players to watch for are Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge, who have been amazing to watch. I’m eager to see if they’ll break any postseason records.

Overall, I wasn’t expecting the Yankees and Astros winning, but now that they both won, I can expect them to win again unless they play each other. I would like to see the Astros winning because they knocked off the Red Sox and it won’t make the Red Sox look like they lost to a bad team. However, I don’t want the Yankees to win any more games because I dislike them. If they both win, I could see the Astros and Yankees winning lots of games and advancing to the championship.
