Thespians host kids camp

Elementary children had a chance to express their creativity while their parents had time to themselves during the Thespian kids camp on Oct. 15.

Thespian officers looked after children in a daycare service at Manhattan High School when all USD 383 schools were out for the end of the quarter.

According to Thespian officer Azrael Wolf, sophomore, officers were assigned to different groups, which gave the children a spectrum of activities to choose from.

“All the kids had a great time,” Wolf said.

The Thespian officers were dressed in different themes, and senior Emmett Spaw, the officer who organized Kids’ Camp, was dressed as a character called Captain Blingsbeard. The children reportedly attacked him at any convenience.

According to Wolf, the aspect holding the most gravity was the kids’ safety.

“[This was a] great way to spend my Saturday,” Wolf said.

Senior Ryan Ward, another Thespian officer, had a different experience while monitoring and entertaining the children. While he enjoyed planning for the event, Ward preferred watching chaos ensue from afar.

“Planning was horrible…but it was nice to see the kids chase my coworker [Spaw],” Ward said.
