The German club held an Oktoberfest celebration last Tuesday in the north courtyard after school.

The festival originates in Germany and started off as a wedding celebration.

“[Oktoberfest] was celebrated with many days of drinking and horse races,” treasurer Ayianna Bailey said, “and has now become an annual event.”

To celebrate the club had a meal of brats, potato salads, brat and sauces. The meals could be purchased for $4.00.

The German club celebrates this event as a part of getting to learn more about German culture and as a way to raise money for the club to attend the Schuelerkongress in February. They can also use proceeds to pay for the fee for the national German exam that takes place in January.
