JV Smashes Home Match

The girls on the Junior Varsity tennis team won three single rounds and one double round in the home meet against Topeka West, Junction City, Washburn Rural and Topeka High on Sept. 6. 

Sophomore Lily Vu is a swimmer and a tennis player who has been playing tennis for three years.  She likes playing tennis because she can compete against new people and she really likes to play doubles. Vu placed fourth No. 1 singles.

“I like seeing how much I improved,” Vu said.

Junior Carlotta Baladron, an exchange student, has an amazing serve and she takes pride in her serve. She has been playing for seven years. Baladron  won all of her matches and placed first 2 singles.

“What I like about the tennis team is the girls on my team are so nice and make it feel like a family,” she said.

Junior Remingtan Hansen used to play soccer but has been playing tennis for three years now and is really good at volleying. She placed 3rd 1 singles.

“I love how physically demanding it is but at the sametime it comes so easily,” Hansen said.

All three of these girls along with their team had a great first match of the season. The JV tennis team will play next on Sept. 27 at Washburn Rural.
