Manhattan High Bowling has always been very competitive with many high-scoring bowlers and State contenders. With that a new season is upon us which means a new season to fight for a state title.
Two of last season’s State qualifiers are returning this year: Nicholas Burfich and Cortlynn Millington. The team is led by head coach Chris George, who is very motivated and wants to lead MHS as far as possible this season.
“We were middle of the pack last season,” George said.
As a coach George likes to focus a lot on improving the players as much as possible during practices. He likes to have the players focus on shots they struggle most on and for them to focus on their mental game.
“At practice we will start off with a short meeting and then we will bowl some sort of drill like working on tenpin,” George said.
The team looks forward to hosting League later in the season. They have their first meet on Jan. 13 against Hayden High. George is confident they will come out strong.
“Girls and boys both have very strong bowlers,” he said.
