Athlete of the Week: Caeleb Hutchinson
Q: What do you like most about wrestling?
A: I like working hard and competing and wrestling, those are two really big things. If you want to be successful, you have to do that.
Q: How long have you been wrestling?
A: I’ve been wrestling since I was four years old.
Q: What’s your favorite team memory?
A: Probably winning State my sophomore year, because it came down to my last match, and when I wanted we secured the team time.
Q: How do you feel about ending your high school wrestling career?
A: It feels great. I accomplished my goal of being a four-time champ, and that was the first time in school history. So that is a pretty big deal.
Q: What kind of work did it take to get to that four-year state championship? How does it feel now that you’ve achieved it?
A: I just practice every day, sometimes twice a day. It feels great looking back and seeing that all the late nights, early mornings are worth it.
Q: You’re going to wrestle in the Big 12 at Northern Colorado. How do you hope to advance your wrestling career at that level?
A: I hope to really just develop a college game. I mean, the coaches there are great, practice partners are great. Hopefully, I can really jump levels there and become a national champion.
