ISIS threat to attack United States may be credible

The threat is real.

All America has heard about for the last week is the Islamic State and the atrocities that occurred all over Europe Nov. 13. These events have led Americans to a sort of panic and has developed the question: is ISIS coming for America next?

Earlier last week, ISIS released two videos that implied an attack against the U.S. may not be too far away. The first video showed a member of ISIS making a bomb as well as shots of Times Square. As if that wasn’t already chilling enough, the second video showed a jihadi soldier talking into the camera describing what ISIS is going to do to America. While the government isn’t sure that these are a credible threat, America has still increased the security tremendously.

“At this time, we know of no specific or credible threats of an attack on the U.S. homeland of the type that occurred in Paris tonight,” Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson said to NBC Nov. 13.

Since the Paris attack happened outside of a soccer stadium, the NBA and NFL are increasing security at their games as well. Security has also been increased around government buildings and French sites in Boston, according to NBC.
