NBA’s best friend duo reunites

For four years, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James ruled the NBA, turning the Miami Heat into a powerhouse, and having fun while doing it. Wade and James became best friends in those four years, realizing how similar they were. Both were drafted in the 2003 NBA draft, both worked hard to become the stars of their team and both set aside their pride to join forces in 2010 on the Miami Heat.

After four years, the stars parted ways when James went back to Cleveland, but they never stopped being friends. When Wade was able to get a buyout from his contract in Chicago this offseason, the Cavs were the first to jump on the opportunity, proposing the two stars reunite and become a dynamic duo yet again.

“It’s kind of like when you start school and you walk into the classroom not quite sure who your classmates is and when you walk in there one of your best friends is in there and you’re like ‘oh yeah this is gonna be fun, this is gonna be a good class,’” James said in a post-trade press conference.

There is no doubt the Cavs are going to enjoy the year with Wade but the question will be what can Wade add that isn’t already in Cleveland. They have the best player in the world in James; they added Isaiah Thomas, an elite point guard, and Jae Crowder, a lockdown defender, in a trade deal this offseason losing only Kyrie Irving; and in addition to that, they picked up a previous MVP in Derrick Rose during free agency.

This is all without mentioning the many returning players for the Cavs such as J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver who are both knockdown three-point shooters. So what does Wade add to this loaded Cavaliers team? It is his experience, his knowledge of the game, and his clutch factor, not to mention the fact that he is still one of the top players in the league.

“[I would take Wade] in high leverage moments,” Max Kellerman, an NBA Analyst on First Take, said. “So those moments where, okay, now let’s see the best of what you got, I’ll take D-Wade over James Harden. I think I’m taking him over Jimmy Butler, I think I’m taking him over Klay Thompson. Still at those critical moments I love Dwyane Wade.”

Many NBA analysts agree that Wade, although getting old, is still one of the better players in the NBA and possible the second best pick-up in this offseason, only behind the Oklahoma City Thunder signing Paul George. This Cavs team will be the team that has the best shot to stop the Warriors. When Isaiah Thomas returns to the Cavs roster at full health by the playoffs, their backcourt will be great, but it is nothing compared to the frontcourt of James and Kevin Love, and then at center a rebounding machine in Tristan Thompson. The Cavs are going to be a scary matchup for any team in the NBA.

Dwyane Wade signing with the Cavaliers is one of the biggest moves inside of the NBA this offseason, and it will make the Cavaliers plain scary to face off against, giving virtually no chance for any team in the East to make it to the finals over them. Wade adds a lot to this already stacked Cavs team, and will help them take another shot at the NBA Championship.
