Sophomore Willow Graves has been a stand-out athlete on the Boys swim team for the 2022-2023 season. From qualifying in multiple events at State, to being a part of the all-sophomore relay team that broke the league record, to placing fourth in the 500 free at State.

“I’m very happy with where I ended this season,” Graves said. “I’m also happy with my secondary events and getting consideration times in all of them.

Swimming has been a huge part of Graves’ life, as she is a part of both the high school and club team Manhattan. Being a member of the swim team has shaped Graves into the person she is today. Someone with a strong work ethic and drive to get better.

Graves placed in the top three in her 100 breast and 500 free at almost every meet this season, and qualified for State in both, ultimately taking the fourth place spot in the 500 free in finals.

“I was absolutely ecstatic about how I did at State in the 500,” Graves said. “Although it wasn’t ideal with my left goggle falling off as soon as I dove in, clearly the adrenaline paid off as I was able to hold my position from prelims. It was really just an incredible moment.”
