Manhattan High girls bowling finished first at their home meet on Monday, with the boys finishing second.

They have had an amazing start to their season with strong performances at their first three tournaments.

Their first tournament in Lawrence was a good starter tournament for the team, as both the boys and girls took home honorable finishes.

“We could’ve done better if we picked up our pins,” sophomore Peyton Berry said. “We had a lot of drops.”

The team’s second tournament was in Junction City against three other schools where the boys placed first and the girls placed fourth.

“I was able to find my mark really early, which is a spot you need to throw your bowl at everytime,” senior Landon Ott said.

The bowlers have good goals for the season and are working hard to make them happen.

“I hope to go to State this year, because last year I was three points away,” junior Grace Radi said.

With their first two tournaments down, Ott has high hopes for the team down the line.

“One of my goals this year is to win the League tournament and also qualify for State,” Ott said.

Next up they will travel to Junction City for a quad with Solomon, Washington County and JC.
