You’re killing me. That’s how we feel when we realize someone we love wholeheartedly is not a person whose  meant to be in our live, but we love them too much to let go.

“Killing Me” is also the name of the newest single pop artist, Conan Gray has released on October 31 of 2023. Gray wrote “Killing me” when he was sick with the flu. “ It was a miserable time where I was both physically sick but also super heartbroken over somebody”, hence “you’re KILLING me”.

I think we all have those people who don’t treat us nearly well enough that we just can’t seem to let go. People who you call at 2am and know you shouldn’t answer, but you do. Killing me is for when you’re on your last limb begging this person to just please stop torturing your heart.

Gray is continuously telling the story of his heart break through the song. He uses lyrics  such as “I love you bad, that’s the problem occurring “, “To busy deceiving and cheating and lying and competing to know how lucky you are,” “as I chase as you’re chasing another man” and “Though i am crying and bleeding and barely breathing i can’t let go of your heart” to show what he went through in the relationship, on how intense his love was in the relationship. He realized that, even though he was not being treated right, he was still willing to do anything to stay with this other person.

The song starts off somewhat slow then builds up to a more high energy beat. It maintains a steady beat throughout the whole song and at times the high beat turns down.

This song will be a hit, especially among those who may have been in a similar situation as Gray. However, it is definitely not limited to those who have been through a heartbreak.
