Last Wednesday, the swimming and diving team competed against Seaman, Washburn and Wamego in a tough competition.

“Seaman has a really hard team,” senior Ben Schaub said. “Washburn is always a powerhouse but I thought we had a pretty good match up. We could’ve done a little bit better with our relays, but we all swam pretty hard so I’m happy with what we did.”

Schaub participated in the 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay and 100 backstroke in which he took 13th place. However, the boys team fell short in terms of points and placed third, behind Washburn and Seaman.

“Everyone did their best,” senior August Balman said. “We were real close to second. I think we did really well.”

The next time the teams compete will be in two weeks. Many swimmers are using this period to focus on getting better.

“I just wanna get better with my technique,” Schaub said. “I’m looking forward to getting better and looking forward to doing better at the next meet.”

Their next meet is at home on Feb. 4 and 5. Diving will compete on Friday and swim on Saturday.
