Athlete of the Week: Cooper Schroeder

The Schroeders are fast. There’s no getting around it. This is no exception for senior Cooper Schroeder, who claimed first in the Centennial League on Saturday. In his final league meet, he had a time of 16:22.90, which locked in an overall first place for the cross country team. Schroeder has been one of the best runners on the team ever since his freshman year, contributing heavily to the eight straight league titles they hold.

He’s still on track to compete in two more meets, regionals and state. With his record of success, the chances are that he will do well in both of those.

“It felt really good to get first, that was the first time I’ve won a race in high school and that experience I think will help me with the remaining meets of the season,” Schroeder said. “After winning league pretty dominantly, that experience will give us more confidence heading into regionals and state.”
