Athlete of the Week: Cailey Perkins

It’s every senior athletes dream to have a moment. A moment where you dominate the field or the court, and show the full potential of your athletic ability while all eyes are on you. Senior Cailey Perkins did just that as Manhattan High girls soccer faced off against Blue Valley.

“I knew that this blue valley team was going to be strong, organized and talented,” Perkins said. “my mindset was to just play as hard as I can for my team and look to connect with my teammates.”

Considering the fact that she scored all three goals that allowed MHS to beat Blue Valley, it’s reasonable to say that she indeed did play hard and connect with her teammates. For one player to score three goals is no easy task.

“I would say keeping the intensity at a high level after we got ahead 2-0,” Perkins said. “It’s always hard to play like you aren’t ahead but I think the team did a good job of that and we were able to be  dangerous throughout the whole game.”
