Soccer falls in first round of Titan Classic tournament

Still winless. Seeking to avenge their season debut loss to Lawrence last Saturday, the Manhattan High boys soccer team lost to Bishop Carroll in the first round of the Titan Classic 2-0; a replica result of their previous game. An opportunist Bishop Carroll side took the lead in the fifth minute to put the Indians down a goal from very early on in the match. Although Manhattan would have opportunities to score, Bishop Carroll, a team that last year placed fourth in the 5A state competition, kept the Indians scoreless throughout the game. Approaching the end of the match, the Indians would concede another goal, this time a shocker from outside the 18-yard box, and finish without a goal for the second time this season. A very different situation compared to last year’s Indians who broke the record for most shutouts in school history, holding opponents scoreless for a majority of the season. Manhattan’s next game will be in the second round of the Titan Classic tournament when they face Wichita North in yet another road matchup.
